Powder-Coated Railing Cleaning
The dull coat on a painted aluminum rail is often salt that never got rained off. The wipe is in the floor rate. A rail that has chalked down to metal is a different job.

What this page is
This is a hand wipe of a powder-coated aluminum rail: warm water, a mild detergent, a soft cloth. It is included in the $2 per square foot of the balcony floor. It is not a refinish, and it is not a claim that chalking will look new.
What salt does to the metal under the coating is in the salt-air guide. Glass panels in the same rail are the glass page.
What is included
The cap and the posts
Both faces you can reach from the slab. The film goes onto a cloth.
Sheltered spots
The underside of the cap, where rain does not reach, gets the same wipe.
What we will not use
No abrasive pad, no solvent, no pressure washer. Those are how a coating gets cut.
What stays
Chalk on a fingertip, or metal showing through, is noted. We do not paint it.
What we will not do
We do not hose the rail onto the unit below. A rail the association has already scheduled for replacement is a building question. Salt film on glass is the salt-film page.
What it costs
| Floor size | Approx. | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Short balcony | 60 sq ft | $120 |
| Typical downtown balcony | 80 sq ft | $160 |
| Large corner | 120 sq ft | $240 |
The wipe is in that number. A new coating is not.
FAQ
Is a dull rail extra?
Not if it is on the balcony we are cleaning. The rate is the floor.
Will chalk come off?
A cloth takes off a coat of salt. Chalk that is the coating itself may still show. We will say so.
Do you pressure wash coated aluminum?
No. We do not bring a machine.
Is the photo a job we did?
No. It is stock, credited under it.
