Salt Film on a Balcony Rail

A water-facing rail picks up a dull coat. That coat is in the same visit as the floor. The rate does not rise because the building faces the bay.

What this page is

Salt film here means the hazy coat you can wipe off aluminum, glass, and a painted rail. It is included in the $2 per square foot of the balcony floor. It is not a refinishing job, and it is not a promise that pits or tea staining will disappear.

What salt does to each material is in the salt-air guide. The wash method is no hose.

What is included

The rail you can reach

Both faces of the glass, the cap, and the posts, wiped by hand. The film goes onto a cloth, not over the edge.

The glass beside it

Slider and railing glass, squeegeed. Spots that are only film come off. Spots that have etched the glass may stay.

Under the furniture

Chairs and the table are shifted so the slab under them gets the same wash, then put back.

What stays

A pitted cap, a chalking paint film, or a fastener that has already bloomed is noted. We do not paint it.

What we will not do

We do not bring a pressure washer, and we do not rinse the rail onto the unit below. A rail the association has already flagged for replacement is a building question, not a cleaning question. Hard spots on the glass are the hard-water page.

What it costs

Floor sizeApprox.Price
Short balcony60 sq ft$120
Typical downtown balcony80 sq ft$160
Large corner120 sq ft$240

The wipe on this page is in that number. A new rail, a powder-coat, or a glass panel that has to be replaced is not. Text a photo if you are not sure which is which.

One photo of the rail is enough

Text it with your building name. We reply 8am to 7pm.

FAQ

Is salt film extra?

Not if it is on the balcony we are cleaning. The rate is the floor. The film on that rail is included.

Will pits come out?

A cloth takes off a coat. It does not fill a pit. If a fingernail catches, that mark is past a wash.

Do you hose the rail?

No. The wash stays on the slab. Nothing is rinsed over the edge.

Is the photo a job we did?

No. The photo on this page is stock, credited under it. We photograph your finished balcony and text it before we leave.
